HOW DO I CONNECT?


RENT A CAR

There are two ways to get to Oudtshoorn. Travel on the N2 from Cape Town until the Mossel Bay/Hartenbos turn-off then turn left onto the R28 and travel for approximately 45 minutes. Oudtshoorn is 485 km from Cape Town, approximately 5 hours drive.

Alternatively take the more scenic route and head out from Cape Town on the N1. Turn right at Worcester then drive through Robertson and head for Ashton-Montagu. Travel on the R62 past Barrydale, Ladismith, Calitzdorp. Oudtshoorn is approximately 446 km, and takes approximately 4½ hours from Cape Town.

AIRLINES

George Airport (a 40min flight from Cape Town) is the closest airport - approximately 60 kilometres by road from Oudtshoorn. If you fly in you can hire a car at the airport. along the Cape Garden Route & Klein Karoo.

BY TRAIN

Prince Albert’s closest train station is 45km away at Prince Albert Road. The Trans-Karoo runs every day from Johannesburg to Cape Town and Cape Town to Johannesburg. If you are arriving by train you need to arrange for your accommodation host to collect you from the station.

BY BUS

The major bus services – including Greyhound, +27(0)83 915 9000, Translux +27(0)861 589 282 and Intercape Mainliner +27(0)861 287 287 all offer an assortment of routes between Cape Town and South Africa’s major cities.

A popular choice for backpackers is the Baz Bus +27(0)21 439 2323, where you can hop on and off between towns.

Cape Town to Prince Albert Prince Albert is 400 km and takes about 4.5 hours. Take your pick of the N1 or the N2 or Route 62 and follow the signs
