Public roads in South Africa are well developed and well sign-posted with driving done on the left hand side of the road. To hire a car, drivers must have an international driver’s license and a minimum of 5 years experience.

45 minutes from Cape Town
Turn right at exit 47 off the N1, and follow the signs to Franschhoek.
Stellenbosch 45km
30 minutes from Cape Town
Take the N2 highway past Cape Town International towards Somerset West, take Exit 43 and follow the R44 into Stellenbosch
Paarl 60km
45 minutes from Cape Town
Take the N1 from Cape Town, travel about 60km and turn left at the R45 into Paarl
Greyton 145km
Travel time from Cape Town is 1hour 30 mins
Turn off the N2 highway, about 20km past Bot Rivier, taking the R406 to Genadendal and Greyton. Genadendal is 28km from the N2; Greyton is 6km further.
Hermanus 125km
Travel time is 1hour 30 mins to 2 hours
Take the Hermanus off ramp from the N2 near Bot Rivier and follow the R43 for another 35km.
Stanford 155km
Travel time is 2 hours
As with Hermanus and then follow the R43 for another 65km.
Citrusdal 170km
Travel time is 1hour 30 mins to 2 hours.
Follow the N7 North
Knysna 500km
Travel time 6 hours
Take the N2 north from Cape Town to Knysna passing Riviersonderend, Somerset West, Caledon, Swellendam, Albertinia, Mossel Bay and George.
