Close encounters...

Wow, my second weekend in Cape Town and the Western Cape was pretty exciting! Even though it was very hot my housemate and I risked it outside and went to the croc farm in the beautiful town of Paarl(approx. 30 minutes from Cape Town, in the Cape winelands).  It was a small croc farm but it was a lot of fun. The guide was very kind and took his time to answer all the questions the people had and...... we were allowed to hold one of the baby crocs! I felt like Steve Irwin for a second! And check out the albino one (see pic)!!!They are really beautiful animals! I cannot wait to get to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karooto dive with these creatures!

On Sunday we went to the South African Museum near the Company’s Garden. It was very interesting to see all the treasures of history. They have a lot of interesting topics like the history of tribes (for example the Khoi & San tribes), planetarium, African wildlife and dinosaurs. Pretty interesting if you would like to know more about these things. If you don’t like going to the museum, then the Company’s Garden is another good option and it is right next to a museum.

I am already making plans for the weekend because my to do list is not done yet ;) and there is a lot to do here, so making plans to go beyond the 90 minutes should be very easy!

Wow, mijn tweede weekend in Kaapstad en de West- Kaap was behoorlijk spannend! Ondanks het feit dat het buiten erg heet was, hebben mijn huisgenoot en ik toch de poging gewaagt om naar buiten te gaan. We zijn naar een croc farm gegaan in Paarl (zo’n 30 min. van Kaapstad, in de Kaap Wijnlanden). Het was klein maar het was erg leuk! De gids was erg aardig en nam de tijd om alle vragen van de mensen te beantwoorden, en..... we mochten een kleine krokodil vasthouden! Voor heel even voelde ik me Steve Irwin in de dop! En kijk eens naardie albino croc (zie foto)!!! Ze zijn erg fascinerend! Ik kan niet wachten om naar Oudtshoorn in Klein Karoo te gaan, om daar te duiken met deze wezens.

Afgelopen zondag zijn we naar het South African Museum geweest, naast de company’s Garden. Het was erg interessant om de zogenaamde schatten van vroeger te bekijken! Ze laten verschillende onderwerpen zien zoals de geschiedenis van de stammen (bijvoorbeeld de Khoi & San stam), een planetarium, de dieren van Afrika en dinosaurussen. Erg interessant als je hier meer van wilt weten. En als je liever outdoor activities doet dan is de naastgelegen Company’s Garden een goede optie.

Ik ben al plannen aan het maken voor het komende weekend, want mijn to do list is nog lang niet klaar ;) Er is zo veel te doen hier dat het maken van plannen beyond the 90 minutes, geen probleem moet zijn!
