It was balloons, champagne and a beautiful summer evening in Cape Town. Yesterday, the city’s magnificent new Cape Town Stadium was handed over by its building contractors to the City of Cape Town at a special ceremony for than 200 guests and media. The R4,5 billion stadium has been completed right on schedule – only 32 months after construction started. Calling it a real piece of art, Cape Town’s Executive Mayor, Dan Plato received a symbolic key from the main building contractors, Murray and Roberts and WBHO.
